The most probing interview I have seen for McCain so far on the Palin front. Dave lets him defend her, and doesn't press too hard. But he clearly makes McCain a little uncomfortable. Then, at the end, he cuts into McCain's "Ayers" rant with the penetrating question: "Weren't you friends with Gordon Liddy? Didn't you attend a fundraiser at his house?"
McCain was, as we have said, gobsmacked, and unable to respond. Paul Schaffer came to his rescue, though.
Well, McCain did an excellent job. This was by far and away the best justification for choosing Palin. Something still believe is an unbelievably reckless decision, and an independent reason to disqualify McCain for president. Dave aint as street as he thinks he is. McCain won this exchange.
