Pirates at the Polls

In debating the recent bailout bill (live on C-SPAN, my favorite network), Steven LaTourette (R-OH) was griping about earmarks on the bill. His point, of course, was that this was exactly the wrong bill on which to stick a bunch of earmarks and he was disgusted by the reflexive nature of legislators. He was particularly aggrieved by a $200M tax credit for Rum distributors out of Puerto Rico.

He then produced the best quote in the history of C-SPAN:

“I guess the Senate was worried about the pirate vote in November.”
