Wheee!

Big numbers for McCain out today. The convention bounce is at its peak now. It's gonna be a wild ride.

I'd be lying if I said I weren't concerned. The numbers don't worry me too much -- the USAT poll with McCain +10 is clearly an outlier, and as the bounce recedes it looks like this race remains very closely tied. But what does bother me is that once again, for the third consecutive presidential cycle, what I see is the republican candidate defining the issues, framing the debate, and the Democrat being responsive. Now responsive is better than passive (as Gore was), and Obama's reponses are brisk, which is encouraging. But I want to get back on offense, and I am not seeing that out of the Obama camp.

Time to stock up on Prilosec.
