Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.
No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

What I think Americans at the end of the day are going to be able to go back and look at track records and see who’s more apt to be talking about solutions and wishing for and hoping for solutions for some opportunity to change, and who’s actually done it?”
If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.
[...] Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

So, if the election were held today, it appear Obama may win over 300 EV, and the popular vote by around 5%.
If instead of this economic crisis, there was a terrorist attack; if Obama started off by saying, "Listen America is safe from attacks", then went to fire the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, then to invade Iran, then to flying back to be briefed by the pentagon; if in the meantime Biden had said, "Sure, I'd f-- Sarah Palin if given the chance" and it was revealed that his stump speech was word for word from Teddy Roosevelt's; would McCain be leading by 5% in the popular polls? Would Obama still be leading in California & New York?
I don't know which answer would bother me more. If the answer is yes, Obama and McCain would switch places, then I feel like damn we are divided. If the answer is no, Obama would be finished then I feel like damn Democrats suck.
It almost certainly would be McCain by some equal measure. It's depressing how much both of them are sounding exactly like every other Dem and Rep presidential candidate. And this is a financial/economic disaster, which predictably raises the Democrats. If Iraq breaks out again, it'll raise the Republicans just as predictably.
