Harry Reid finally wins one

I've thought for a long while that Harry Reid has been an astonishingly ineffective Majority Leader. The real test will come this year, with a big majority and an ambitious Obama agenda to advance. I was disappointed in how he handled the Lieberman matter.

But it's nice to see him rack up a significant win. The senate's organizing resolution was agreed to, and Dems will have a 3 or 4 vote majority on every committee in the Senate. What this means is that the GOP will have a very hard time killing any of Obama's legislation or nominees in committee; the dems can lose one or possibly two votes and still prevail in the committees. They'll still have to overcome cloture votes, but this is one less obstacle that the Obstructionist party will be able to use against the Democrats.

Let's hope there are more wins like this to come.
