Obama is a moderate Democrat who has no interest in banning guns. So, he is attacked by the left for not being sufficiently ideological. Whatever, fine. But he is also attacked by the right based on the fantasy of what Obama is.
It is the same thing with healthcare. Much of the anti-healthcare polling is because liberals think it doesn't do enough. And, since it is Mitt Romney's plan, with mandates, the Republican solution to healthcare until they got it, it makes sense it woudl upset liberals. However, again, the right opposes healthcare because of some bs rhetoric about government take over. There isn't even a VOLUNTARY PUBLIC OPTION!
