The remarkable thing (one of them, anyway) about this stuff is that it's coming from people inside politics who ought to know better. Not that they ought to be morally superior beings who are above race, but that they work in politics and ought to understand that this sort of nudge nudge wink wink racism plays out much better behind closed doors than it does in public.
Still, it's not altogether a bad thing that the racists expose themselves and we get clear evidence that the dark underbelly of the GOP is still terribly retrograde.
This is right up there with the "right wing violence" thing, BTW, in that we cannot blame all republicans for the disgusting positions that a few hold. But it casts all republicans in a pretty bad light that people like this are actually working within the party.

Walker’s harmless update, however was followed by a highly-questionable comment from longtime SCGOP activist and former State Senate candidate, Rusty DePass.
“I’m sure it’s just one of Michelle’s ancestors — probably harmless,” DePass wrote.
Wonkette notes that a racist e-mail was sent out by a legislative staffer for Tennessee GOP state senator Diane Black. The staffer, Sherri Goforth, e-mailed this composite picture of the country’s 44 presidents, which represents President Obama with only a set of eyes:

And it demonstrates yet again that the two parties are not in equipoise. The Republicans are further right, more extreme, more close their wicked relatives than Democrats.
It hasn't always been that way. It won't always be that way. But Jeremiah Wright is not a prominent operative in the Democratic Party and neither are the posters on Daily Kos who want to kill O'Reilly, or Limbaugh or whatever.

Jeremiah Wright is interesting with this new thing. Turns out he was worse than he sounded during the campaign.
It also highlights how much reasonably active and vicious antisemitism there is in the black community. It's also an amazing amount of conspiracy thinking there is about Jews and the government. It's something we need to address at some stage... we can't ignore it that black pastors are still making casual *assumptions* out loud about how a Jewish cabal is controlling the president of the United States! It's not a minor charge to be throwing around.
