No bills were considered by Arizona's Senate this year until Senate Republicans passed the budget. (We don't even pretend to care about the minority party here.) They could not pass a budget that a governor from their own party would sign, so they passed it and have not transmitted it to her office (where it will be vetoed). They want to wait until the last minute, but they want to keep their stupid no bills before the budget pledge.
Now that they are in business, here are some of the measures they passed:
Fines for texting while driving
Fines for smoking in a car with Children
Fines for stopping in the road to pick someone up for a job (also fines for accepting a job from someone stopped along the road)
Strangely, something about child prostitution, which surely must already be illegal.
Yes, this is all exactly what we need. A bunch of laws (except the prostitution one) that people came up with by standing around a water cooler saying, "That outta be illegal."

That's so awesome. Your Republican party so *wants* to be in charge. This is *exactly* the set of laws Illinois Democrats have passed over the past 10 years. They aren't right of center or left of center they are just related to wanting to tell other people to be safe.
And by "awesome", I meant "the worst thing ever".
Yeah, it is really weird.
