CNN has a story about Obama's list of "wacky" government spending that he is proposing to cut. This is not a list of wacky government spending. It includes grants for college juniors interested in public service, security for intercity bus lines, grants for child nutrition. None of that is the stupid shit that antigovernment advocates use to promote their all-government-spending-is-waste theme.
In fact, the list, which totals far less in cuts that antigovernment advocates would like to see, perfectly demonstrates that cuts will hurt. Balancing the budget through cutting will take more than eliminating abortion funding and AEA grants for paintings of people peeing on Jesus.
Has this country ever had tax rates lower than they are now? Is there any question that reducing federal programs, will directly cost jobs? What the fuck are people thinking?
